The Green Belt

The Limburg Maasduinen is a special part of the Netherlands. It stretches from the municipality of Mook en Middelaar, all the way in the top of Limburg to Belfeld (near Venlo) in the south. The nature of the Limburg Maasduinen is unique, with heathland, drifting sand, woodland landscapes and of course the river Maas. In the season, the asparagus cultivation shows its striking, elongated beds of crops. Enjoy the beautiful Maasduinen, discover nature and the many attractions in the region! In De Maasduinen you will find nice village squares where you can still experience a real sense of community. Arcen is a former fortified town and is beautifully situated on the Maas. The remains of the toll gate “De Schanstoren” and the never completed canal “De Fossa Eugeniana” reminds us of this history. The many terraces and restaurants, the National Park, the Maas and the various lakes make a visit more than worthwhile!
